A devoted servant of culture and remembrance
The late Haj Ahmad Yelali was a well-known veteran and cultural volunteer in Abadan. He worked for years to document the city’s resistance, record veterans’ memories and promote a culture of selfless service.
His service included work at the Culture and Resistance Studies Office of Khuzestan and Abadan’s Art Bureau, cooperation with Baqir al-Ulum Cultural Center and coordinating remembrance activities.
In Mehr 1399 (September–October 2020), following years of cultural work, Haj Ahmad contracted COVID-19 while on a cultural assignment. He died in the final days of Safar. A servant of Imam Reza’s shrine, he was buried on the anniversary of the Imam’s death, with a large gathering of Abadan residents attending his funeral.
